The Lodge

The  “Oh, Be Joyful” Lodge sits on Peak 8 above downtown Breckenridge with beautiful views of Peaks 6 and 7. It’s your stepping off point to miles of beautifully groomed trails located right out the back door.

It’s an architectural joy which needs to be experienced in person to be truly appreciated. It was designed with one goal in mind, to create a warm and inviting space which naturally welcomes everyone who enters it.

Construction of the lodge began in 2012 under the guidance of Gene and Therese Dayton. It was carefully built using almost 90% recycled materials.  It uses indigenous wood from the area including spruce trees that were felled to make room for the Breckenridge Ski Area gondola and and incorporates locally harvested Pine Beetle killed wood. All the logs, including the huge Spruce and Douglas Fir log posts, were milled and lathed locally by the Dayton’s with the peeling and staining done by hand.
